Psychological work tends to start with an assessment. An assessment will involve me learning about what has brought you to seek help and what you are struggling with, what has happened to you throughout your life and the impact different experiences have had on you. It will also involve me finding what would you would like to be different and what you would like to gain from psychological therapy.
The assessment will lead to us developing a shared understanding of your difficulties and a plan for the focus our our work together. We will also consider different therapeutic approaches and agree on how many sessions you may need.
The assessment also provides us with an opportunity to meet and for us both to consider whether we would be a good fit to work together and that I would be the right person to help you.
